ALLOY STEELS

Alloy steels are the group of steels obtained by adding elements such as chromium, molybdenum, nickel, vanadium and silicon to carbon steel in defined proportions, and which can be given high strength and toughness by heat treatment. In this group Defence Metal supplies the AMS certified grades that the aerospace, defence and machinery industries call for.‌‌

Materials in this group are generally supplied in the annealed or normalised condition; once the part has been machined, hardening and tempering are applied to bring it to the required strength level. They are widely chosen for landing gear, shafts, gears, fasteners and critical structural parts.
