It is an <span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.defencemetal.com\/index.php\/en\/austenitic-steels\/\">austenitic<\/a> stainless<\/span> steel. It essentially contains the elements <span class=\"s2\">iron<\/span>, <span class=\"s2\">chromium (20\u201323%)<\/span>, <span class=\"s2\">nickel (11\u201313%)<\/span>, <span class=\"s2\">manganese (4\u20136%)<\/span> and <span class=\"s2\">molybdenum (1.5\u20133%)<\/span>. The high manganese and nitrogen addition both increases strength and greatly improves resistance to rusting compared with the classic 300 series stainless steels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Nitronic 50 is used especially in <span class=\"s2\">sea water environments<\/span>, <span class=\"s2\">chemical process systems<\/span>, <span class=\"s2\">nuclear energy components<\/span> and <span class=\"s2\">highly stressed fastening elements<\/span>.
